If you find an ill or injured bird of prey (eagle, hawk, owl, falcon, vulture or kite) please call our Rehabilitation Center at 636-861-1392.
When attempting to capture a bird of prey:
If you encounter a baby bird, do not remove it from its nesting area unless you are sure that it is injured. Often baby birds will stray from the nest as they are beginning to learn to fly; if you know where the nest is, you can safely put the baby directly back in the nest and its parents will continue to care for it. It's a myth that the parents will reject the baby because of the scent of our hands -- in fact, most birds have no sense of smell at all!
Please... Don't love them to death.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REHABILITATE AN ILL OR INJURED BIRD OF PREY YOURSELF. Bring the bird immediately to a properly permitted bird of prey rehabilitation center such as the World Bird Sanctuary. Know the law!
